There are a couple of databases there at WorldConnect that have your Augusta Hoffman who m. Edward Lynes. Neither has Peter Hoffman`s ancestors, though. The 1850 census for Claverack shows Peter & Elizabeth Hoffman with Augusta, who is 17, among the children in their household. The 1880 census shows Edward & Augusta Lynes in Brooklyn with their children including 20 yr. old Elizabeth. I believe they are there in 1870, too, but Edward is indexed as Edwin LYONS & the children`s names & ages are a bit off. Not unusual for census records. I have some Lynes in my tree from Delaware Co., NY & Ohio & they have also been indexed as Lyons in some records.
