Delaware County Orphanages

Does anyone know if there were orphanages in or around Delaware County? I found my G Grandfather Peter V Foulks in an 1860 Census. And he was one of the first volunteers in 1861 from Delhi to join the Army 4 Jun 1861. Sickles Brigade. He was born 1841. His father died 1850 and his mother died 1853. Leaving 6 children from age 5 to 17. I realize the 15 & 17 yr old ones could probably be independent, but perhaps the other one were put into an orphanage. Both Peter and his brother William were in the 72nd regt NY Vol. Their father was Edward Foulks & mother was Eliza? They are my brick wall. I have Peter's bible with names and dates. But can't find any of them until I found Peter in 1860.
