The Mountain Eagle, weekly newspaper published at Tannersville, Town of Hunter, Greene County, New York, issue of Tuesday, May 11, 1993 Leona Bell Raeder GRAND GORGE - Leona Bell Raeder, 79, formerly of Grand Gorge, died April 30 at St. Claire's Hospital, Schenectady. She was born Nov. 12, 1913, in the town of Roxbury, the daughter of John and Annice (Leonard) Dugan. She married George A. Raeder Sept. 21, 1935, in Roxbury. He died Oct. 6, 1974. She graduated from the Roxbury Central School in 1931. She assisted her husband on their dairy farm on Ferris Hill Road, Grand Gorge. She also was employed as a cook at the Stamford Community Hospital. She moved in 1975 from Grand Gorge to West berne. She was a member of the Grand Gorge United Methodist Church and the Stamford VFW Auxiliary Post 6292. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Wyble of North Blenheim and Mrs. Nancy Shoemaker of West Berne; two grandsons, Timothy and Richard Shoemaker; and two great-grandchildren, Nathan and Nicole Shoemaker; one brother Fred Dugan of Stamford; one sister, Elizabeth Morse of Schenectady as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held May 3, at the Miller Funeral Home, Roxbury with the Rev. Richard Dykstra. Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery in Grand Gorge. Contributions in her memory can be made to the Middleburgh Rescue Squad or the Memorial Fund of the VFW Auxiliary Fund, Stamford. Funeral arrangements were by the Miller Funeral Home, Roxbury.
