Hi Alice,
Have you called the town clerks office, they will do searches, and they do not charge much money, some times it takes them a bit, but I found that in that part of NY, they are very good, also they will tell you who made the funeral arrangements and you can call them.Hope this helps you, when my great grandfather died,[in 1930] I called the funeral home, they even told me what the shirt cost that he was buried in![ this was in Otsego co.]
