I found one other item which could be of interest..from NY Wills at NEHGS: 20 Apr 1774 Elwell, Samuel of "Sout" Precinct, Dutchess Co. Wife Mercy, son SAMUEL and other children, not named. Real and personal estate. No executor named. Witnesses Robert Kean, Joshua Barnum Jr., of South Prect., yeoman, and John Birdsall. (a Dorcus Barnum married Jabez Jr) Perhaps your Samuel was a grandson of Samuel will 1774. There was an Isaac in Dutchess in 1778. Sorry not to be of any real help....wish you good luck. Vicky
