Vicky, Wow!!! You're very good at this. The 1774 will looks very promising. I have to find out when Samuel Elwell Jr's son Samuel was born. The first time I read the 1774 will it sounded like the son Samuel was a minor at that time. When I read it again I thought it meant that son Samuel was to have the negro boy when the boy becomes of age (old enough to be separated from his mother). Not sure which is correct. Either way, thanks to you this is the best lead I've had.

I hadn't heard of Frank Doughtery and the Settler's of the Beekman Patent, but I will certainly check it out.
