Do you have access to Ancestry.com? There is a tree there that gives his parents as Richard Post b 17 May 1735 Westbury, N Hempstead NY d 08 Aug 1813 NY m 31 Aug 1757 Hannah Bedle b 28 Aug 1734 Hempstead. S/o Richard Post b 1715 Westbury d 1758 Hempstead & Mary Willis b 22 Feb 1713 Hempstead, Queens, NY d 03 May 1744 Hempstead. No sources given for any of this though. This family may go back to immigrant Richard Post b 1617 Maidstone, Kent, ENG & may have been Van Der Poest at one time.

Since they were Quakers (they kept good records) you might find some info by Googling something like Long Island Genealogy or Quaker genealogy NY or somesuch.

OK to email me at karimagameel@yahoo.com if I can try to help further. Hope this bit helps some.
