PHILLIPS family from Dutchess Co. to Ontario, Canada

I am seeking any possible clue on the origins of my g-g-grandfather, Jonathan PHILLIPS, reportedly born 1794 in or near Dutchess County, NY; died 1868 in Hastings County, Ontario Canada. One account states that the family moved to Canada about 1809.

Also, a James PHILLIPS, reportedly born 1798, Rhinebeck, NY. James married Deborah Rosebush in Belleville, Ontario, Canada, about 1822; died 1888 in Hastings County, Ontario, Canada. I suspect he may be a brother to my Jonathan.
