In your "rather obscure books" about Dutchess Co, NY, may I ask for some info?

John JOHNSON is my G4GF, married to Anor NORTHRUP in 1834, per "10,000 Vital Records...". Per Census, John was b ~1809 in NYS, d Dec 1873 while living in Dover, buried in Valley View cemetery in Dover. They seem to have lived in and around T/Washington all their adult lives.

The NORTHRUP genealogy is well documented, so no problems there.

John & Anor had:

George b 1835, removed to Port Jervis, Orange, NY to be an engineer on the Erie RR, m Margaret PARET 1876. I descend from George. He m wife #1 in Dutchess, "Ida _?_, b ~1839, Greece [the country or NY?]" per Census; m ~1861, Dutchess.

Josephine b ~1841, m CW vet Thomas DUTCHER, removed to Queens eventually to be near her youngest brother

Mary Louisa b ~1847, d 1852

Smith b ~1860, d ?, m ?, eventually removed to Queens, NY (namesake of Anor's brother, Smith NORTHRUP.

"The Settlers of the Beekman Patent" talks about 2 Johnson families that lived in Dover at the same time, but stops at 1800, so I don't know who went on to add John to their family.

MY QUESTIONS:

* Who were John JOHNSON's parents?
* Where and when was he born?
* Did he have siblings?
* Are there any details available on George's 1st wife, Ida _?_ ?

If this is too big a pain to undertake, I thoroughly understand. However, any effort you put in will be gratefully appreciated.
