It looks as though your Merritt Roberts is the same one born to William & Zerbiah Roberts in Franklin Co. The 1850 census shows them in Chateaugay, Franklin Co. which is about 15 mi. from Malone. There are no other Merritt Roberts in the county then. Do you have Merritt`s death record from Wisconsin? That may have his parents names on it. You can order it here:
