I found a GREAT web site to get you started. I found some wonderful information about my own family (FORBES) when I went poking around. I hope you have some good luck as well.

I have not been able to go to New York and visit the Fulton County area yet, so not able to give you much help there.
Also, familysearch.org is a good web site. They are free, so information is limited, but you do get quite a bit if you know basic names and dates of birth, marriage or death.
If you happen to stumble across any information on the FORBES family line while you're there, I'd appreciate knowing about it, or how to get it. I'm always hungry for more background. My Forbes family was in Broadalbin.
