Do early early records exist for Greene County and where would I find them? Or would any one have any information on the following families that would relate to me.
Stats DeGroot married Catherine Van Buskirk on Sept. 4, 1738. I do not know if he is in the Athens area but I do find records of him in Coeymans in 1776 but I believe he marries Catherine in Athens or Catskill area.
Possible sons according to church records.
Peter DeGroot b. around 1760 dies 1799 in Coeymans. Marries Catherine Halenbeck daughter of Martin Halenbeck and Annatge Van Wormer. They live in Athens, Catskill and Coeymans. After Peter DeGroot dies Catherine marries Jacob Van Loon. Their children are Annatge (Hannah) marries Daniel Turner, Catherine marries Daniel Thompson,Rachel marries John Trusidill, Staats marries Catherine Tolley, Magdalina marries John Wolford, and Maria.
Cornelius DeGroot b. March 27, 1757 dies Dec. 13, 1834. Marries Maria Van Loon daughter of Albertus Van Loon and Maria. Children Albert marries Marie Van Loon, Cornelius, and Rachel William Van Hoeson.
