Thank you very much. I checked this website and found a few more mysteries to ponder. I did find a birth date for Staats DeGroot in the Hackersack Church Records and I found his fathers name as being Joost De Groot and mother Mareitie Banta after I wrote this.
Is there any place else to check for early records from the 1700's? I have visited Greene County two years ago and I was told there are no records that early. Two years ago we went to Albany also but were overwhelmed and did not know quite where or what to do.
