THE OTSEGO FARMER Cooperstown, N. Y. Friday, March 27, 1931 Adaline Benjamin Withey, oldest daughter of the late George and Juliette Benjamin, died Sunday, March 15th, at the home of her youngest son, Bertram Withey at Nichols, at the age of eighty eight years. Death was caused by a complication of diseases, she having been ill about a year. Deceased was born in Hunter, Greene county, but moved to Morris when she was a young girl. In 1862, she married Josiah Withey. To them were born five sons: Frank and Jesse of Utica, James of New Hartford, George of New Jersey, and Bertram above mentioned, and she is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Lavinia Lewis and Mrs. Carrie Bennington. She was an earnest Christian woman, active member of the Baptist church as long as she lived here, being interested in all branches of the church. She was president of the Ladies' Aid society for a number of years. After the death of Mr. Withey, she went to live with her son in New Hartford, and there she transferred her membership to the Baptist church and was able to attend services for many years. The funeral was held Wednesday at 1 o'clock from the home of her sister Mrs. Lavinia Lewis at Morris, the Rev. Mr. Naylor of New Hartford officiating. The body was placed in the vault at the Hillington cemetery to await burial in the family plot. Notify Administrator about this message?
