Can anyone help me out with information about Harlow N. Stresing, a mechanical engineer who lived in Rochester and Brighton at least from 1910-1930, and his wife Ruth L.? Harlow was born 4 Sep 1894 in Buffalo, parents Albert C. and Elizabeth Stresing, all born in NY, although Albert's parents were German and Elizabeth's were Norwegian. They had moved to Rochester by 1910. In 1930 Harlow had married Ruth L. (b. abt. 1895 in NY) and they lived on Bufford Dr. in Brighton. Their marriage is NOT in the Rochester historic marriages index, so presumably they didn't marry in the city. In 1930 an aunt-in-law lived with them - Mary I. Dorland - listed as age 70 and widowed, born in NY. This is the person of interest to me - I think she was Mary Isabel Ripton (born in Johnstown, NY), who married Gilbert E. Dorland, a widower, in Brooklyn in 1898. Gilbert died in 1901 and Mary lived with her siblings in Brooklyn in 1910 and 1920. By 1930 they had all died, and I found her in Brighton, living with Harlow and Ruth Stresing, but I can't figure out how she's an aunt-in-law. I think she must be related to Ruth rather than Harlow, but I can't find out Ruth's maiden name. Mary I. Dorland died in 1934 and was taken back to Johnstown, NY for burial with the rest of her family. If anyone has any information on these folks, I'll greatly apprciate the help.
