Searching for the parents of Reuben Smith, born 15 July 1755 in Brookfield, Worcester, MA. Married Mehitable Earle. Served in the Revolutionary War in units out of Vermont, 1774-1779. He was living in the Guilford, Windham County, VT area. During 1787-1790 was living in Cherry Valley, Otsego County, NY. He also lived in Whitestown, Oneida County, NY. 1801-1831 lived in Herkimer County. In 1810 and 1820 lived in Camillus, Onondaga County, NY. In 1832 Reuben and some of his children moved to St. Clair County, MI. Reuben died 2 February 1840 and is buried in the Smith Cemetery near Marine City, MI.
Children: William, Gardner, Martha, Rufus, Lucinda, John and Newell.
This family is part of the Smith DNA project and because of a mutation in one of the markers, shows a tight relationship with Lt. Samuel Smith, 1602-1681, of MA.
