My gg grandfather John Greenfield was born in Albany County, NY March 3, 1814 (according to his death certificate and his obit.) and died in Rome, NY on March 29, 1908. He married Nancy, who was born about 1825 and died April 20, 1893 in Rome. They had three known children, William, George and Anna. The earliest I can find John is the 1880 Census. (I may have him in 1870, but the dates don’t match. I know Census records can be off.). After 1880, I’m good and have a lot of details, but before 1880 is a blank including John’s parents and any siblings. His parents were not listed on his death certificate or in his obituary. John spent time in Herkimer County with his daughter Anna at the time of the 1892 NYS Census. Death certificates indicate John and Nancy were buried in the Floyd Cemetery in Floyd, NY, but cemetery records don’t list them and there are no headstones, so getting info from the cemetery is a dead end. I believe they are buried there as a son and two daughters-in-law are there. Greenfield was a very big name back then in Albany and Saratoga Counties and I know some came to Oneida County and beyond, but I haven’t been able to connect my John Greenfield to any others. Any help in pointing me in the right direction or helping to make a connection to John’s ancestors would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Richard Owens Notify Administrator about this message?
