Mary,
I couldn`t find much on the Homers or on Mary Bowers. There is a database at WorldConnect that has your family & the submitter has Mary`s parents as Walter Bowers & Elsie Warner. You could try contacting her. The page for Mary is here:

Have you tried the Oneida Co GenWeb site? It`s here: http://oneida.nygenweb.net/ I`m not in Oneida Co. & though I`ve been to Utica several times I`m not familiar with genealogy resources there. The GenWeb page has a resources tab & there`s listings for the historian & several other resources.
If Mary Bowers Bass died in Adams, Mass. you mght find her death cert. It could have her parents names. Thomas & Mary Bass are there in 1900 with son Adelbert & his family. Contact the town clerk:
