Nancy McCORD d. ca 1814 m. William OWEN, Orange Co., NY

I am seeking information on a Nancy McCORD, who died ca 1814. All that I know about her is contained in the obituary of her son Hudson OWEN, parts of which I include in this post.

I am aware that there is a record of a death of an Elsa OWENS which is as follows:
Early Death Records of the First Presbyterian Church at Goshen 1805 - 1851
1810 Sept 13 Elsa Owens, 27, Cholera Morbus (wife of William OWEN)

I have seen OWEN researchers name this Elsa/Elsie as the wife of William OWEN s/o Jonathan d. 1814, however, since Hudson OWEN was not born until 1811, I do not see how she could be his mother or the wife of my William OWEN s/o Jonathan d. 1814

Again, this Elsa is named by researchers as being the d/o Andrew McCORD. There may have been an Elsa McCORD who married a William OWEN, however, I do not believe this Elsa/Elsie's husband William OWEN was the son of Jonathan who d. 1814.

I am also aware that researchers name Elsie's father as Andrew McCORD, however, since the obit says that "Nancy McCORD", mother of Hudson OWEN, was born in IRELAND, I cannot reconcile Nancy and Elsie as being the same person or even sisters.

BERWICK, PENNSYLVANIA, FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 11, 1898
HUDSON OWEN Born January 25, 1811 - Died February 8, 1898
GATHERED TO HIS FATHERS.

After an illness of about four weeks, one of Berwick's oldest citizens -Hudson Owen - passed from this life to the life immortal shortly after eight o'clock on Tuesday morning, Feb. 8th.

Hudson Owen was born in Orange Co., N.Y., January 25, 1811, a son of William and Nancy (McCord) Owen. The latter, a native of Ireland, died when her son was but three years old. For the first time since he was a young man the subject of this article early last summer went back to his old home and stood beside the grave where eighty-three years before they had laid his mother to rest. The father [William OWEN] was a native of Orange County, NY., but of Welsh descent, was a tanner by trade and followed the business during the early part of his life, owning a tannery and property in Middletown, NY. In 1819 he sold out and moved to Wyoming County, seven miles below Tunkhannock, where he bought a farm and resided until about three years before his death, when he came to live with his son, Hudson, at Berwick, where he died in 1855.

William Owen served in the war of 1812 as a member of the Light Horse Company. He was a man of prominence in his day. He had a family of four children by his first wife....and by his last wife had five sons...

*NOTE: Second wife of William OWEN was Jane McCONNELL (nee WARE) from Orange Co., NY.

The paternal grandfather of the late deceased was Jonathan Owen, a lieutenant in the Revolutionary War, who died in 1814.

I know this is a lot of information and I appreciate you taking the time to read it. Any insight you can provide on Nancy is most welcome.

Regards,
JC Henry
