Their son died & is buried in Kendall, New York not far from Carlton but a differnent town. The local clerks did not keep death records; that was the state's responsibility. There is an index available however in Albany and the Rochester libraries - this will only tell you if there is a death cert on file with the state. The Orleans county Genealogy society has volunteers to check these indexes - see http://www.rootsweb.com/~nyorleans/stack.htm
