Here is a little more info for anyone that can help. Martin's mom Dorcas remarried to a charles E. Jenkins before 1840, she had three other son's in Oswego that also went into the Civil war: Charles E., Sardius D and William C. Dorcas then is found in the 1870 Michigan census with the last name of Thurston. I don't know what happened to either man she married in New York or where she married a Thurston. I still cannot locate a David Rector that would have been Martin's father. Dorcas appears to have been born abt. 1812 in New York.
