Tilly Foster Deaths

Does anyone know where miner deaths or mine records for the Tilly Foster iron mine might be located? Was there a Southeast newspaper in 1880? Is there a specific cemetery where a killed miner might be buried?

Researching John and Elizabeth SEARL, listed in the 1880 census as living in the town Southeast, NY. He is an iron worker.
