Hello. If you do a google search on Tilly Foster Mine Disaster - one of the first hits should be a New York Times listing of the article that ran on December 2, 1895 (a few days after the disaster). It lists the some of the 13 victims identified so far as Thomas Dennis, John Fagan, Michael Gannon, P.H. Murtha. From there it goes on to talk about other fatalities in very dated / not quite politically correct terms such as "Italian Number 234" et cetera. I recommened you go to http://www.mahopaclibrary.org/ and select the Local Archives (Putnam Courier online) section in the "Research" column. From there you have access to scanned copies of the local newspaper from that period. Because it is a weekly paper coming out on Friday - you have to select the Dec 6, 1895 Edition of the Courier to read about the disaster. Newly reported fatalities there include a James Fox and James Clark Hope that helps. Notify Administrator about this message?
