There are many graves which are marked only with field stones in the Ellis Cemetery.

Because of their placement behind the marked grave of Rev Joseph C Wright it is suspected that the unmarked graves may be that of miners.

Wright was a local Weslyan Preacher who was born in Collignton Cornwall, England. He ministered to the workers at the Tilly Foster Iron Mine.

The Ellis cemetery is within site distance of the mine. Husted road is unpaved and connects state Hwy 6 with Lake Ave. It is at the Brewster Carmel border.

The funerals of the miners from the 1895 cave in (13 deaths)were administered by the pastor of St Lawrence O'Toole RC
Church. They may be buried in St Lawrence O'Toole cemetery.

The St Lawrence cemetery is located at stae Rt 22 and Turk Hill Rd in Brewster NY.
