Real Estate and Wills in the 1600s

have a will from Thomas Welling who died in Jamaica in 1691. He left property in a life estate to his wife with the remainder to his children. The oldest was also Thomas Welling. He had two brothers, William and John. In 1701 and 1705 land in Little Plains and Foster's Meadow was divided and the only Welling listed who received land was Thomas Welling. Would that mean that William and John had left the area or would it mean that the property was Thomas Welling, et al and only Thomas's name was listed? The will and property transfer records seem to conflict. Can anyone help?
