According to the 3rd Edition, revised (1990) of "Priests and Parishes of the Diocese of Brooklyn, 1820 to 1990, Volume 1" edited by Harry M. Culkin:

Dominic Monteverde was born Dec. 24, 1837 at Genoa. His seminary was All Hallows, Ireland, ordained Nov. 1863.

Served in Nevada 1876-1884, being considered one of the founders of the Catholic Church in Nevada.

Relocated to Brooklyn, serving at St. John Evangelist parish (organized 1849) on 21st St., Brooklyn 1885-1889. He was the first pastor of Holy Rosary parish, Chauncey St., Brooklyn (organized 1889), serving until his death Jan. 2, 1897.

At least for the period that he was in the Diocese of Brooklyn, he was a diocesan priest, and there is no indication that he was a member of a missionary orde.
