Let's start with the fact that 156 Elkhorn St., is not a legitimate address in Howard Beach. An address in that community would be in the form 156-xx where the 156 represents the cross street of 156th Ave.

In looking at that block for the 1930 census, the following family appears living at 156-51 Elkhorn St.:

Alexandrow, John - head
owns home, value $8,000, has radio
male, white, 42, married, first married at 27
b. Russia, both parents b. Russia, spoke Yiddish, emigrated 1913, naturalized
sign painter, signs

Alexandrow, Amerlia - wife
female, white, 38, married, first married at 17
b. Russia, both parents b. Russia, spoke Yiddish, emigrated 1922, naturalized

Alexandrow, Nicholas - son
male, white, 18, single
b. Russia, both parents b. Russia, spoke Yiddish, emigrated 1922, naturalized

Alexandrow, Olga - daughter
female, white, 16, single
b. NY, both parents b. Russia

Alexandrow, John - son
male, white, 14, single
b. NY, both parents b. Russia

Alexandrow, Walter - son
male, white, 7, single
b. NY, both parents b. Russia

No sign of Anthony Smith.

In 1942, John & Amelia are still living in the same house, with its new street name - 156-51 102nd St., Howard Beach, NY

===============================
The house stayed in the family until 1994 when Olga's estate sold it. Olga died January 6, 1993. She had inhereited the house upon the death of her mother Amelia aka Amalia Alexander in 1974.
