Queens County about 1860, Newton/ Newtown

Newtown, in present Queens County, is now known as Elmhurst. I don't think Newtown was the offical name of the town or village. At least not in modern times and not according to the post office. I think it was the name of the English settlement going back to the 1600's. But the name was never adapted in later years. Correct me if I'm wrong!

Newton, I don't know about. It might have been a town or village somewhere out on Long Island. I think it's a name that has faded into history.
