I've never engaged a paid researcher, so I don't know what deed research would cost. There is in most cases an hourly fee plus expenses. If you have access to any genealogical journals, you can check the ads for New York City and Long Island researchers, or run an internet search for certified genealogists or genealogical researchers. You can sometimes contact the history dept. at area colleges and universities and see if the dept. head knows of any students who are interested in research projects - our nearby schools are St. John's University and Queens College of the City University of New York. If you hire a title company, the cost will be high.

I'm not in any position to make recommendations on any individual or group.
