Hi: I saw your post that is now 6 months old, and hopefully you have found your answer already; but in case you haven't... I can't give you a direct answer but I do know that one of my ancestors was David & Mary (Hinckley) Babcock who along with a couple of brothers Darius & Robert, & possibly more)migrated to Rensselaer County from Stonington CT in the 1790s. David was in Berne for a time. And David did not stay in the area but others did.
