I am researching the family of Jeremiah and Jane Calahan. They were the parents of Charles (1834), Owen (1835), James (1838), Jane (1842) .Some were born in Ireland, Jane may have been born in Rennselaer Co. and youngest daughter, Isabella (October 1847) was born in Brooklyn, NY. Jeremiah was deceased by 1850. Census records are inconsistent. It appears that the family moved between Brooklyn and Greenbush. They lived in Brooklyn when the 1850 and 1860 censuses were taken. Most of the family moved to Greenbush, Rensselaer Co. by 1865 .Son Charles married Catherine Kirwin of Greenbush and Isabella married John Cahill. I do not have last names of other spouses. I cannot locate any documents stating the home county in Ireland. The family assumes it was County Cork.
