SAUNDERS family in Richmond County, thru 1870

Trying to find traces of my wife's SAUNDERS ancestors.
They emigrated from Ireland 1858 or 1859: parents Simon
& Maria (or Ida?), daughters Clara & Edith. I've found
the family in the 1870 census in Richmond county, with
additional children Claud, Ida, Laura & Hortense. By
the 1880 census, the family is in Mount Vernon,
Westchester county; additional children Lucille &
Herbert, twins, born 1871. Simon's death was reported
in the New York Times, 5 March 1895; his widow
"disappeared" sometime between the 1900 and 1910
census. Have found marriage record for Edith, to James
Harcombe, Feb 1876 in Manhattan. Have searched through
FindAGrave, HeritageQuest and Ancestry.com (library
edition) already. If anyone has access to local
newspapers, cemetery records, obituaries, etc, any
assistance would be appreciated.
