Chambers and Carr Families
Posted by: Jim Chambers (ID *****3177) Date: February 11, 2008 at 10:41:22

I’m looking for information on Chambers and Carr families. My gg-grandfather was James Chambers. In the 1880 Canton census, he is living with his wife, Mary Ann Carr, his children Clarence, James, and Lottie M, and his father-in- law, John Carr.
In the 1900 census, James was living in Whitehall, NY; his birth date was given as April 1837. James died in Whitehall on 13 Jul 1900. His death record said he was born in Madrid and his parents were Charles Chambers (born in Ogdensburg) and Mary (born in Gouverneur). I have been unable to find a Charles Chambers that would be James’ father. Any help on his parents would be appreciated.
Further information, Mary Ann died on 23 Aug 1892 in Lisbon. Her death record shows her parents were John and Paggie Carr. I would appreciate help with her parents as well.
James and Mary Ann’s son, James, is my great grandfather, and I have information on him. They had a son Cecil who was born in 1881, and I have information on him. When the older James died, he was survived by James, Cecil, and Lottie M. In the 1900 Lisbon census, May Chambers is living with her uncle, James Carr. So, her name was likely Lottie May (or Mae) Chambers. I would appreciate any information on her.

Jim Chambers
