My great-great grandmother, Johannah (White) Omans, was sent to Ogdensburg Psychiatric Hospital between the year of 1870 and 1877. She is listed in the 1870 Census (town of Nelson, Madison County, State of New York)as insane. The family said she was taken to Ogdensburg hospital, her husband divorced her and remarried Adilade Jenny in October 1877 and they are listed as husband and wife in the 1880 census. I am unable to find Johanna after the 1870 census, she was 23 years old. Her first name has also been spelled once in pension application papers as Joanna. Johanna was born in Stockbridge, New York.
Can anyone give me some idea where the 1870 Census for the Ogdensburg Hospital would be? I have checked in St. Lawrence County, Town of Lisbon but was unable to find a census list of Patients in the hospital. I am not sure that I am looking in the right place.
