Two sources were found for the birthplace of John Oliver HINKLEY (born 1813) as Northumberland, Saratoga County, NY. There is a Nathan HINCKLEY, Jr. in the 1810 US Census for Northumberland, Saratoga County, NY. This is most likely the father of John Oliver Hinkley and his brothers. The parents of Nathan Hinkley are most likely Nathan and Hannah Hinkley. Nathan Hinkley was born about 1757 and died 19 May 1820, buried Emerson Corners Cemetery, Wilton, Saratoga County, NY. Emerson Corners is now Gurn Spring, New York. The brother of John Oliver Hinkley was Ira Hinkley who died 19-Jul-1867 in Somerset Mich. Ira Hinkly death certificate which is online has parents as Nathan and Comfort Hinkly. Could the father of Comfort be the Richmund CARR listed in the 1800 census for Northumberland, Saratoga County, NY? There is a Richmond KERR and Stafford Kerr in the 1790 census for Stephen Town, Albany, NY. The Carr Book has this Stafford Kerr (or Carr) as moving to town of Wilton in 1793. The town of Wilton was formed from the town of Northumberland in 1818. “Boston Evening Transcript”, newspaper, 14 Jan 1935, Monday, page 9, Genealogical Column, query #9686. “(9686) Hinckley, Gardner, Stevens.
