It may just be a coincidence, but in the same building in that 1900 census is a family unit consisting of Laura Fitch and Milo Fitch. They are members of a family which the Saratoga County Historian has been researching as part of a project to document contributions to county history by blacks and other under-acknowledged community members.

If you know of any connections between Mr. Montgomery and the Fitch family, the historian would be particularly happy to hear from you. You may be able to assist each other in these searches. Contact Kristina Saddlemire (or Jane Meader Nye) at sarahist@govt.co.saratoga.ny.us

All I could find online was a Weldon Montgomery and his family in North Carolina's 1880 census. The household included a son by the same name, born about 1872, close enough to be of interest. Weldon Sr. appears to have remained in NC.

Good luck in all your searches,
Lynn Calvin
