Carol,

George Melber is on the 1880 census in Schenectady with both parents. He is age 4 in 1880. You can find the transcription of the record by searching the 1880 census at:
http://www.familysearch.org/

There is a WW1 draft registration for George Melber at Ancestry.com. It gives his birthdate as Feb. 2, 1876. He is still living in Schenectady then (Sept. of 1918)& lists his wife Jennie Melber as his dependant & assembler at the Gen. Elec. plant as his occupation. His height is short, build is medium, eyes blue & hair grey.
