If you are looking for Peter Barringer`s parents, I believe they were Peter Barringer & Harriet (maiden name unknown). On the 1850 federal census for NY, only one Peter Barringer who was b. abt. 1845 appears. He is in Troy, Rensselaer Co., NY. He is with Peter Barringer, 40, b. Germany & Harriet, 33, b. Germany. Also in the household are seven other children, including a Joseph, 10. The older Peter is listed as being a basketmaker. In 1860, Peter Barringer is in Niskayuna, Schenectady Co., New York at age 16 living with Joseph Barringer, 20, his wife Eveline & Mary E. Barringer. Joseph & Peter are both basketmakers. In 1870 & 1880 Peter & Gertrude Barringer are in Schenectady with their children. He is still a basketmaker. In 1900, Peter, 56, is still in Schenectady, a widower living with his son Jacob & family. Also in the household is Jacob`s uncle Joseph, age 60. Both he & Peter are basketmakers.
