Hi Patty: I'm looking for William B Matthews born July 1828 in New York.His father was Anson Matthews of CT. His mother was Elizabeth (Burgess) Matthews born in Conway,Franklin, MA.William's father went west to IL. in 1829.William is listed in the 1850 census in Hancock county,IL. as William Mathew. Then William supposely went back to N.Y. in 1854.Anson Matthews, William's father also supposely went back to CT.in 1847.I'm trying to sort out the info to see if he's my William Matthews.There are so many William Matthews it's hard to seperate who's who.Any help would be appreciated.I don't think my William was related to Hector Matthews.He may be,there were alot of them that left CT. in the early 1800's and went west.
