Isaac Houghtaling and Sarah Brown In Reading During Early Half of 19th Century

Isaac Houghtaling was born in the late 1700's/early 1800's. He married Sarah Brown in Coxsackie, NY in 1818. They lived in some combination of Yates, Allegany and Schuyler Counties, as well as possibly Steuben County by today's boundaries. Isaac died in 1877 in Gun Plain, Allegan County, MI in 1877. Sarah die sometime after 1880, probably in Michigan.

During the first half of the 19th century, there are several Isaacs and Sarahs listed in censuses for Reading, Benton and Starkey, NY. They may also have lived in Andover and Dundee, NY. To compoound the confusion, the names Mathys/Mathias/Mathis and Isaac are commonly used as both first and middle names in this branch fo the Houghtalings. As if that were not enough, the Houghtaling name can be spelled more than 50 different ways, including Hotaling, Hotalen, Houghtailing and Houghtaylen.

I am very interested in learning anything at all about this family, especially children, aunts, uncles and cousins. I have ancestry information and some descendent information including Fairbrothers, which I am willing to share.

Raleigh, NC
