We are looking for families of b. New York state g-g-grandparents: William Chesebrough ROOT and wife Abigail COOK(E). Our Wm. C. ROOT was b. abt 1820 in Williamson, Seneca/Wayne Co., NY to Moses ROOT (Farmington Line)& Hanah DENISON. According to J. P. Root's book, all 8 sons were b. NY: Charles Wheeler, Daniel Sexton, Jeremiah Denison, Frederick Almon, Wm. Chesbrough, Erastus, Henry Dyer, & Enos Lewis ROOT. By the 1850 MI, Kalamazoo Co. Census, our Wm. & Abigail [COOK] ROOT are with 5 kids: Almon Sylvester b. abt 1842 NY, Daniel b.1844 NY, Laura b. 1846 KY, Louisa b. 1847 MI, Martha b.MI. We have tracked our Almon S. ROOT forward to ID, UT.
Like so many into ca. 1800 New York, then Michigan by 1847, these NY ROOTS were of CT & MA pilgrim families. We do not know of Abigail COOK(E)'s parentage; do you? Any information is appreciated, especially on her COOK(E) connection. Thanks in anticipation.
