Pretty sure your Seeleys are from Stamford. And, it is a small world indeed. Sally Seeley,b. 6 Mar., 1796 and d. 20 July 1857, dau of Abner Seeley and Eunice Smith m. William Knapp. William was the son of John Knapp and Martha Brown (1774-1850). John Knapp, of Stamford, was one of the first settlers who came to what is now Sullivan County in 1795 with William Thompson who was an early leader. John Knapp was accompained by his young brother-in-law, James Brown who was 18 in 1795. James was a young millwright and he, along with John Knapp built one of the first mills on the Neversink, I think. James Brown was my gggg grandfather. He m. Elizabeth (Betsey) Gillet about 1800. So, they must have been friends with Abner Seeley and hence the Stamford connection. I have Seeley data and can check this for you. Also, one other note, Mary Brown, dau of James Brown and Betsey Gillet m. 1847 to Horace Burr. They went west to IL I think, although I have not been able to trace them. Will be happy to share more.
