The reason I left James’ wife as Hannnah UNK was because when I compared what I found on James E. and his family in several U.S Censuses for Bethel with the James Eldred on p. 115 of your Van Keuren Family History I thought there might be two different James Van Keurens who just happened to have wives with a similar name.

Before firing off my reply to you, if I had checked my digital photos taken at the Van Keuren Cemetery first, I would have found that the James’ and Hannah’s single gravestone reads:
James E. Van Keuren
Born 1842
Died 1931
His Wife
Hannah E. Miller
Born 1843
Died 1935

No question that Hannah was a Miller.

Regarding whether Eugene’s middle initial is ‘’S’’ or “D”—my only source is the 1860 U.S. Census for Bethel. The handwriting is difficult but to my eyes it looks like a “D”. A possible source for the “D” is that Eugene’s maternal grandmother was Elizabeth Dabron/Debron.
