I recently found out that my g grandfather was also known as Wesley Cooley. He served in the Civil War under the name of Wesley Cooley, but his cemetery marker has him as John W. Underwood, my g grandmothers pension application says John W. Underwood (known as Wesley Cooley). Family story indicates there were twin boys born Cooley, and when Parent/parents died, they were adopted by an Underwood family. Information that I have says he was born in Tioga NY. I am in the process of getting his military records. I could sure use help finding his parentage and any other clues to this mystery. He received a pension Oct 1880. died Jan 1906.
