Thank you Sue for all the information. I did find a Wesley Cooley "enrolled 6-19-63 30 PA Mil Inf(Emergency) Must In 6-23-63 Must out 7-26-63 At Catawissa, PA age at enrollment 18."
Also 61st NY Inf Co C under the name Wesley Cooley,I have forms to fill out and send to Albany for military records,my g grandmother applied for a pension in 1906. He is listed on the pension record as John W.(Wesley) Underwood known as Wesley Cooley. The other records I have in my possession have him born 1840. Unless some where along the way he lied about his age. His tombstone is John W. Underwood 61st NY Inf Co C. 1940-1906. He applied for his pension Oct 1873. As you can see this is a great mystery.
