Looking for this family in census records of 1880 in New York, PA, or NJ
Frank Grochowski, (spelling has varied widely, but it is pronounced similar to Grokosky) who was born about 1868 in/near Poland, and he lived in Elmira NY by 1893.
Ellen, wife: born 1876-NY- locales assoc: Tioga Co, Waverly, Olean, Chemung, Catteraugus.
Children listed here would only include Maureen(called Mamie)
**My goal here is to find our Her Maiden Name, and possibly the names and birthplaces of her parents so I can trace this line the last generation or 2 after they arrived in the US and present this to my Grandmother, as this is her Grandmother’s line. These women died very young, so she has very little info regarding them, and has always wanted to know more about how they came to the US.
I know her divorce record is in Akron, Ohio, Summit records, but I have gotten nothing but runaround from them. I really need to find out what her maiden name really was, since she changed her name and her kid's names between 1920 and 1930 census records, but according to my grandmother she never remarried. Unfortunately, my Gram has lost too much of her memory for her recollections to be very helpful or trustworthy...
I want to get her marriage cert, since I figure her maiden name, and possibly the names of her parents will be on there. I would like to trace this family line before Gram won't be able to appreciate any history I get...
