Thanks for the information. Since posting this query other Greene and Ulster County Benjamin researchers have given me some information on Vernon Benjamin and his father Charles.(The family page you quoted on Rootsweb was mine!). We believe Charles Benjamin was the son of James Benjamin b.abt 1850 and wife Jane b.abt 1847. There were quite a few Benjamins in Greene County at the time, but after extensive digging I can't link Charles to this family. I think Charles and James are related to the David Benjamin clan that settled in NJ and PA around 1830 or so.
