My Great Great Grandfather, Jacob Nicklas, is identified in the U.S. census as being from Bayern. I calculate that he was born in 1821 or 1822. The first record I have of him in the U.S. is the birth of his first child in 1852. He and his wife, Elizabeth Koebel, had children Henrietta Amelia, Anna Elizabeth, Edgar Rudolph, William J., and John Michael between 1852 and 1861 in New York State.
