First three generations are from One World Tree:
       Johannes-1 Outman from Hamburg, Germany, was b. 1654 and d. Pearl St., New York City, in 1916; m. Phoebe Cook from Holland.
John-2 Outman, son of Johannes, was bp. in the New York City DR Church 26 Dec. 1691 and d. Stratford CT 18 June 1754; m. Isabelle Williams.
George-3 Outman, son of John, was b. Stratford CT in 1722 and d. Arlington VT in 1793; m. Ruth Wooster.
Benjamin-4 Oatman, son of John, was b. Stratford in 1755 and d. Adams Center, Jefferson Co. NY, in 1816. He served in the Revolution as a private from Vermont (DAR Patriot Index) and had settled in the south part of Hartford by 1795 (Brayton, p. 189).
David-5 Oatman, son of Benjamin, was b. c. 1773 and d. 23 Aug. 1832, bur. Old Hartford Cem. and called “Esq.” on tombstone. He m. Betsey Clough, b. CT c. 1777 to Ithamer and Betty (Heath) Clough (Brayton pp. 270-71); she d. 17 Aug. 1843, bur. with him.
William Henry-6 Oatman was b. Hartford 9 Nov. 1821 to David and Betsey (Clough) Oatman (IGI; see Brayton, p. 189). He m. Sophia Wheeler, b. Bolton c. 1820, prob. the dau. of John Wheeler who was there in that year; she d. Queensbury 5 Nov. 1889. William H. was sawyer at west Queensbury in 1850 with Sophia and with Julia, Ann, Mary and Susan. William Oatman was sawyer at Queensbury in 1860 with Sophia and with Mary, Reuben, Susan, Henry, Harriet and Ida. William, sawyer ($700, $300) was at Queensbury in 1870 with Sophia and with Susan, Reuben, Henry, Hannah and Ida. At Queensbury in 1880 was William, sawmill worker, father b. VT and mother b. CT, with wife Sophia and children Reuben, Hannah and Ida; also Alex Cleland, 52, sawmill worker. In 1888, William H. Oatman, laborer, lived on the north side of River St., beyond the village limits, at Sandy Hill. Children:
i Julia b. c. 1842.
ii Ann b. c. 1843.
iii Mary b. c. 1848.
iv Susan b. c. Jan. 1850.
v Reuben C. b. March 1852; m. c. 1894 Georgia Armstrong, b. Nov. 1869; Reuben was sawyer at home in 1870; commercial agent at home in 1880; he res. 21 Notre Dame St., Glens Falls, in 1890-92; at Ticonderoga in 1900 was Reuben C., ironing-machine agent, with wife Georgia A., mother of one, and father-in-law Lucius Armstrong, ae. 63; Reuben C. was still there in 1910 with same occupation and wife Georgia A.
vi Henry b. c. 1854; sawyer at home in 1870.
vii Hannah or Harriet or Hannarett b. Dunhams Bay, Queensbury, in 1858 (AWT); d. 1893; m. Glens Falls 13 Feb. 1892 William Hezekiah Wheeler, b. Warren Co. 20 Sept. 1871 to Amos and Hannarett (Osgood) Wheeler; dau.: Bertha Mae Wheeler (b. 3 March 1893; m. Fred Flewelling).
viii Ida b. c. Jan. 1860.
