I have in my records a William Russell, born on May 16, 1746, and married to Patience Swain. He was the son of William Russell and brother of the Quaker Charles Russell of Easton, New York. I suspect that, like his brother Charles, William ended up around Easton.

I am guessing that Patience was related to the Swains who moved to the Easton area during or after the Revolutionary War. According to the 1790 census, John Swain and William Swain lived in Easton, New York, but I do not know whether they were related to Patience. Chrisfield Johnson listed John and William Swain as arriving in Easton after the Quaker leaders Rufus Hall and Zebulon Hoxie; William and John Swain were among an influx of whaling captains from Nantucket and Dartmouth (p. 292.

From Quaker records furnished by James E. Hazard, I was able to find information about a man named William Russell who was in and out of the Easton area during and after the Revlotionary War. About 1776, a man named William Russell was a member at "Whitecrick." In 1779, William Russell produced a certificate from Dartmouth Monthly Meeting. In 1784, William Russel was granted a certificate to Dartmounth Monthly Meeting by the Easton/Saratoga Monthly Meeting. In first month in 1790, a man named William Russell was received by the Easton/Saratoga Monthly Meeting on a certificate from Dartmouth. In 1793, a man named William Russel was disowned by the Easton/Saratoga Monthly Meeting. I suspect but do not know that this William was also the husband of Patience. Can anyone help me out?

I have been going through the history of the Russells in and around Easton in an unsuccessful attempt to find the parents of my ancestor Richard Russell, born about 1791--not the son of Jethro. ANY HELP APPRECIATED. And I am always glad to learn more about the enormous Russell family.
